PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project Management at ELG Carrs Stainless Steels covers every aspect of the company’s activities.

It takes us on a continuous journey from the sourcing of materials, via managing the manufacturing processes and implementing quality control systems to ultimately to providing optimum customer satisfaction within the global market place.

The process begins with management of original resources more commonly known as a scrap blend. ELG Carrs Stainless Steels is part of the international ELG Haniel Group, the biggest recyclers of stainless, duplex and nickel alloys in the world. Their vastly experienced workforce enables them to identify all scrap that passes through their system and to supply us with the highest standard of scrap metal to re-melt. Hence, our ability to show full traceability of material which is one of the keys to our success.

A continuing drive to improve upon performance, reliability and standardisation has led to the development and introduction of a number of international standards. For example, the company is fully certified to ISO 9000 for Quality Management Systems and operates within the strict guidelines of Total Quality Management.

Among measures introduced to improve our processes and quality is Six Sigma - an analytical technique that uses data to measure and improve a company´s operational performance. It does this by identifying then removing defects in the manufacturing and service-related processes. Six Sigma is defined as 3.4 defects per million opportunities but is also linked to implementing a consistently applied manufacturing regime, and reflects the needs and priorities of customers within the process. Additionally, the concept of Lean Manufacturing helps eliminate waste across the entire business. More specifically, Lean Thinking enhances production quality and speeds delivery enabling us to be flexible, responsive and more efficient in satisfying our clients´ requirements. It allows us to be more focused on achieving those objectives.

Planning, the backbone of all good project management activity, is then essential in managing our impressive ex-stock range of 1800 tonnes of steel products. Our technical sales and support staff work closely with customers building relationships and an understanding of their individual requirements.

Hence, everyone at ELG Carrs Stainless Steels has their part to play from ensuring that the right material is available at the right time, to providing the specific products and services as demanded by our clients, on time and to the right budget and quality.  It is a continual project managed by our highly motivated team.
