TESTING

Testing is an integral and essential element of any quality management system.

It is part of the monitor, review and revision process that enables ELG Carrs Stainless Steels to guarantee quality in accordance with several internationally known standards such as BS EN 1S0 9001:2000, approvals and accreditation to TUV, PED, Statoil, Germanischer Lloyd, FBFC, Westinghouse, Dembiermont, Exxon Mobil, M650 Norsok release.

With a history dating back to 1902, the company has developed sophisticated facilities that are further enhanced by the company´s membership of the ELG Haniel Group. The Group supplies thoroughly inspected, high quality blended scrap which is radiation checked and guaranteed to melt out at the required analysis as defined by customer specifications, right first time with negligible alloy addition.

In-house testing facilities -

As quality is the priority, process analysis sampling and inspection is undertaken at every stage of operation, from molten bath, ladle refining and ingot teeming through to product inspection by our own laboratory chemists and fully qualified Technicians to ASTN Level II. 100% Ultrasonic Testing is available to ASTM A388 using our in-house Metallurgical Test Laboratory and test machines, which are also available for Customer use. Facilities include the use of Direct Optical Emission Spectrometers, Carbon Sulphur Determinators, Multilab Oxygen Analysers, Mobile Spectrometers, X-Ray Alloy Analysers, various state of the art Ultrasonic Flaw Detectors, plus conventional chemical analysis capacity as well as the latest Exploranium Radiation Detection equipment. Original serial number Mill Test Certification is also available to Customer specification in accordance with EN10088.

Finally, products are regularly checked by our ELG Carr´s own, large Quality Department and overseen by both Lloyds and DNV (Det Norske Veritas) where Customer specifications dictate. All of the above, and more, enables the guarantee that grading and specifications are as requested by each and every one of our clients.
