DEEP HOLE BORING

ELG Carrs Stainless Steels offer a full deep hole boring service for use in conversion of our solid forged bars into heavy wall seamless pipes and hollow bars:-

Deep hole boring provides a method of machine accurate holes that are truly parallel and of a size for which there is no common pipe or hollow bar size.

Boring of the solid bar is undertaken with the bar mounted on the lathe spindle with a boring bar with inserted toll bits mounted in a turret on the rear tool post.

It is advised that after boring the outside diameter is top turned concentric to the bore to give a truly equal and concentric wall.

Material is bored in all of our standard bar gradings to give the following parameters:

Minimum Bore Diameter:          20mm
Maximum Bore Diameter:         280mm
Maximum Overall Length:         6500mm
Bore Tolerance:                        +/- 0.05mm
Surface Finish:                          0.8ì / 32 CLD
Drill Accuracy:                          0.025mm per 25.4mm
