ELG Carrs Stainless Steels offer a number of specially made forged shafts for the marine and machine manufacturing sectors.

Taking a finished drawing and forging to a cylindrical shaft allowing a weight to be forged into a stepped shape utilising the most modern G.F.M and press forges. This operation reduces machining time and allows optimum use of the start off weight of forging billet or ingot.

Suitable pressing of the forged bars allow boss heads, collars and dumbbells to be forged into the shaft. The forgings are then turned, tapped and threaded to customer specifications.

Forged, solution annealed and stress relieved machined shafts can be suitable supplied in diameters up to 520mm and in lengths up to 8000mm to a maximum weight of ??? kilos.

Ship builders, machinery manufacturers and axle manufacturers have all used this product and with project management expertise have been delighted with the finished products, reducing down the time and welding requirements.
